Toothroboto design Arne Puro

Design: Arne Puro

There is a story behind everything. Once upon a time, in 2010 actually there was this little boy called Arne, at home with his mum. His mum was googling pics of robots as planning a Mum's Kid's collection of soft toys. Arne, then 6 yrs came, saw the photos of robots and got curious: "What are you doing mum?" His mum told him she was getting inspired by robots done, as planning a new collection of soft toys for kids. Arne ceased. He looked at his mum and said with all respect but with fully strict determination:

"AND I WILL DRAW YOU ROBOTS SO YOU DO NOT NEED TO STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S IDEAS!"

Then Arne ran to his room, came back with a pile of colourpens and paper and began to draw on the kitchen table. There was a roboto with big teeth to remind us to brush our teeth, Wingrobot may fly even through walls, four handed robot may help more because of many hands, girl robot has got a Marimekko stripy dress, just like Arne's mum.. Each and every robot was drawn with care and respect- and as story. Arne's drawings were turned to soft toys in the hands of Bolivian women artisans and these toys were sold at Artek shops, which was absolutely lovely. Then robots were forgotten.

In 2024, for Arne's surprise we brought the robots back, as it is Arne's 20 years celebration year : ) Lovely robots made in the hands on Indian women artisans as part of Mum's BEADiful things, as beautiful collectible wall art and keyrings. Hope you love these as much as we do. Use it as a keyring or a decoration hanging on your bag. It's all handmade, it's BEADiful! Thank you. MUM's

Mum's was born in South Africa in 2006, when Finnish Outi, an artist, and mum herself, collaborated with 15 African women. They made sculptures for an exhibition in Finland, all weaved by hand, designed by Outi, empowering women who worked from home. All women were mothers, so the project was named MUM's.

Later, it became the name for a sustainable brand "Mum's Good with Goods". Over the years a tiny art project has slightly developed into a sustainable design company, combining designers with sustainable production. Mum's has got production in four developing countries India, South Africa, Cambodia, and Bolivia. Everything is handmade as far as possible, people work from home, and save travel costs to operate. Materials are local either natural or recycled, and each Mum's product is signed by the artisan who made it.

Mum’s carpets are made to order only. We manufacture all our carpets according to your wishes. The size selections available on the website are examples of the most demanded sizes based on the typical Scandinavian living room sizes. We hope they are useful when choosing the correct carpet size for your needs. Unfortunately, we cannot provide return or refund options for the made-to-order products.
