From art to sustainable design company
I am an artist and designer, mum of four kids, mum of MUM's. Once in my life I studied at Aalto University in Helsinki and Arts Academy in Turku, and my art project led me to Africa 2006. Ended up making weaved sculptures. Unique works of art were presented at exchibitions in Finland. We were noticed and kind on honoured by the design scene because we combined Finnish design to ethical manufacturing, received awards because of design, were presented in magazines and television because of our story and values, happily so. It was a good start for a small company, which did not even think itself as a company, but rather as an art project making good with goods.
Since then, Mum’s has grown to a sustainable design company employing 40-50 women and men. We make all handmade and ethical. Collection consists of wool rugs, wall hangings, cushion covers, blankets- Nordic design meets signatured handmade items. Our collection is fairly traded, eco-conscious, ensuring sustainable incomes to artisans in South Africa, Cambodia, Bolivia and India.
We make beautiful things with a beautiful story.
Good, with goods.
