Tomi Leppänen is a Finnish graphic designer behind Typewriter collection. A collection of rugs for both out- and indoors, textile handmade of recycled plastic bottles and details embroidered by hand. Inspiration for Typewriter rug Collection comes from Tomi's obsession with typography. Freshly Nordic, joyful and minimalistic design is a study of the four most basic glyphs. Tomi is obsessed with the Smiley symbol and emotions and those became the theme for the Typewriter collection.

Ethical and ecological production. Handmade in a small village in Northerin India. Nordic design meets sustainable production. Material is fibre made ofrecycled plastic bottles and this high quality design rug is suitable for both outdoors and indoors.

This is not totally new area for Tomi, as he has learned about Anni Albers's use of this technique at the Bauhaus. Albers made some experiments for her textile patterns with using glyphs only.

Rug material is durable and suitanble for outdoor and indoor use. Smiley pattern may also be done in Mum's original wool quality.

MUM's

Mum's was born in South Africa 2006, when Finnish Outi, an artist, and mum herself, collaborated with 15 African women. They made sculptures for an exhibition in Finland, all weaved by hand, designed by Outi, empowering women who worked from home. All women were mothers, so the project was named MUM's.

Later on, it turned to be a name for a sustainable brand "Mum's Good with Goods". During the years a tiny art project has slightly developed into a sustainable design company, combining designers with sustainable production. Mum's has got production in four developing countries India, South Africa, Cambodia, and Bolivia. Everything is handmade as far as possible, people work from home, save travel costs to work. Materials are local either natural or recycled, and each Mum's product is signed by the artisan who made it.
